Soap Making 101
1. Measure water and lye, go outside and add the lye to the water, never the water to the lye, being very careful not to splash.
2. Measure oils and mix together.
3. If using, measure colorant with olive oil.
4. Measure scent.
5. Test temperature of lye, < 140 degrees F.
6. Add sodium lactate to lye
7. Add lye to oils and gently mix with immersion blender.
8. Add scent and colorant.
9. Pour into mold.
10. Put under "tent" cover to slow cooling.
11. Wait 48 hours and cut into bars.
12. Set aside for six weeks, turning every few days.

Hydrosol 101
1. Gather 8 cups herbs and petals.
2. Place glass bowl upside down in canning pot.
3. Arrange herbs and petals around the bowl and add water just until covered.
4. Place glass measuring bowl right side up on top of the upside down bowl.
5. Place the lid upside down on the pot.
6. Fill the lid with ice cubes.
7. Simmer, adding ice as needed.
8. The steam will condensate and drip into the measuring bowl.
9. Pour into small amber glass spray bottles and store in a cool, dark place.

Face Moisturizer

In a quart mason jar, melt together:
¼ cup coconut oil
¼ cup shea butter
¼ cup cocoa butter
2 tbsp beeswax

Add:
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp avocado oil
2 tbsp apricot oil
A few drops of essential lavender oil

Moisturizing Foundation with Sunscreen
(approximately SPF 20)

In a small jar, melt together:
⅛ cup Face Moisturizer
1 ½ tsp beeswax
1 ½ tsp shea butter

Stir in:
1 ½ tsp cocoa powder
1 ½ tsp zinc oxide
